Apple confirms 12th of September media event

It’s finally official! Apple will be holding a media event next Wednesday, the 12th of September, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The confirmation comes courtesy of The Loop, who received the invite pictured above.

The main focus of the much-anticipated event is expected to be the company’s next-generation iPhone, which based on the “5” shadow featured on the invite, now seems likely to be called the iPhone 5.

Having introduced the third-generation iPad as “the new iPad” early this year, there was some speculation that Apple would use the same numberless naming convention for future iPhone releases.

Apple is expected to release iOS 6 alongside the new iPhone.
