Apple releases first Thunderbolt Cable
Back in February, Apple added Intel’s Thunderbolt I/O technology to its MacBook Pro lineup, and last month the iMac was given the same treatment. But despite the introduction of this new technology, we are only just starting to see compatible devices released. Now we can buy a cable for them – Apple added one to their online store today.
The new Thunderbolt cable (part number 885909456635) is 2.0 metres long, and costs £39.00 in the UK and $49.00 in the US.

Unless you fancy splashing out on a Promise Pegasus RAID System, also released today and starting at £769.00 ($999.00), currently the only other uses for the cable are to either run target disk mode between two compatible Macs (useful for transferring data), or to turn the iMac’s screen into an external display for the MacBook Pro – providing both are the latest models.
Eventually all Macs are likely to feature Thunderbolt, as we reported yesterday it would appear that the MacBook Air is next in line.
