Apple releases iOS 6.0.1 update
Apple has today released iOS 6.0.1 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The update, which includes a number of improvements and bug fixes, can either be downloaded over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update, or by connecting to a Mac or PC running the latest version of iTunes and checking for updates.
If you’re an iPhone 5 owner, Apple has released an additional update which fixes a bug that prevents your device from installing updates wirelessly. You will therefore need to download and install that particular update, also found under Settings > General > Software Update, before you can upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 over-the-air.
iOS 6.0.1 release notes:
- Fixes a bug that prevents iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air
- Fixes a bug where horizontal lines may be displayed across the keyboard
- Fixes an issue that could cause camera flash to not go off
- Improves reliability of iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) when connected to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks
- Resolves an issue that prevents iPhone from using the cellular network in some instances
- Consolidated the Use Cellular Data switch for iTunes Match
- Fixes a Passcode Lock bug which sometimes allowed access to Passbook pass details from lock screen
- Fixes a bug affecting Exchange meetings
As with all system updates you should make sure you have a recent backup of your device before installing iOS 6.0.1.
