Apple has today launched its annual “Best Of” promotion highlighting the company’s top picks of 2012 from the iTunes Store, iOS App Store, Mac App Store, and iBookstore. This year’s winners in the UK include the iPhone app Airbnb, the iPad game Paper by FiftyThree, and the film Avengers Assemble.

Yahoo has today released a completely revamped version of its Flickr app for the iPhone and iPod touch, which it says is easier to use and more beautiful than its predecessor. The app also boasts a number of new features, with the most notable being the ability to add 16 Instagram-style filters to your photographs.

Following Adobe’s announcement back in August that it would be optimising a number of its products for the MacBook Pro with Retina display, the company has now released free updates for both Illustrator and Photoshop CS6, which add support for the machine’s super high resolution display.

Apple has updated its annual 12 Days of Christmas app for customers here in the UK, other European countries, and Canada. The app, which is available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, allows users to download free songs, music videos, apps, books and TV episodes each day between the 26th of December and the 6th of January.

Apple has released a number of updates for the iOS and Mac versions of its iWork suite of apps. Pages, Numbers and Keynote for iOS have all been updated to add improved compatibility with their Microsoft counterparts Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. The Mac versions have simply been updated to include support for the new iOS versions.

Google has today rolled out major updates to its YouTube and Gmail apps for iOS. The most notable changes made to the YouTube app include enhanced AirPlay functionality, and native support for the iPhone 5 and iPad. Updates made to the Gmail app include a completely revamped design, support for multiple accounts, and an infinite scrolling inbox.

It’s finally here! The all-new iTunes 11, which boasts a dramatically simplified design and deeper iCloud integration, is now available to download for Mac and PC. Unveiled at its iPhone 5 event back in September, Apple originally promised the software would arrive by the end of October, but then delayed its launch until November.
