As we’ve approached Apple’s iPhone 5 announcement on the 12th of September, we’ve seen a number of videos that show mockups and models of the device’s alleged new form factor, and how that compares to the design of its predecessors. But a new video that has surfaced today is believed to feature the real iPhone 5 – booting up on camera for the first time.

Physical mockups of what are purported to be Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad mini devices have surfaced at the IFA 2012 consumer electronics trade show in Berlin. Presumably based on a combination of leaked parts and schematics, the mockups were created by case manufacturers to test out their new accessories.

When Apple unveils its iPhone 5 next month, one of the biggest changes we’re expecting is a larger 4-inch display. Sure, it’ll probably have a faster processor, maybe a better camera, and possibly even 4G connectivity. But the biggest change for most of us will be the display – this video shows what it could be like to run iOS on it.

You didn’t have to switch anything, you didn’t have to tap anything, you didn’t even have to take it out of your pocket – it just did it automatically because it knew you walked into work. What is thought to be a rare iPhone 4 prototype running Apple’s software testing framework – Switchboard, briefly appeared on eBay earlier today. First spotted by 9to5Mac, the item attracted a single bid of $4,500, before being pulled.

UK communications regulator Ofcom has today given Everything Everywhere — the parent company of mobile network providers Orange and T-Mobile, the green light to roll-out the country’s first 4G network. And according to a report by Pocket-lint, Apple’s next iPhone could be one of the first devices to support the new service.

When Apple announces the new iPhone next month, it is expected to unveil a brand new mini dock connector alongside it. The company’s existing 30-pin setup has been around for years, but is set to lose its place to a new 9-pin connector. Of course, Apple is likely to release an adapter that will allow it to work with older accessories, and this mockup shows what that adapter might look like.

Despite the fact that Apple are expected to release an iPhone with a taller 4-inch display at a media event on the 12th of September, the Cupertino company has today released a new (PRODUCT) RED Bumper for its current iPhone 4S & iPhone 4 models.
