When Apple first added the MacBook Air to its notebook lineup back in January 2008, it had a backlit keyboard. So when all-new 11″ and 13″ flash storage models were released late last year, many people were disappointed to discover that the feature had been left out. With new MacBook Airs rumored to be released this month, at least one report suggests that backlit keyboards will return.
Last month, the London Mac User Group (LMUG) held a special event in the Wood Marylebone Pub, where 89 excited Mac users watched Steve Jobs & Co show off iOS 5, Mac OS Lion and iCloud at the WWDC Keynote. By all accounts the event was a resounding success, so it’s great to hear about their next event which will be held on the 18th of this month.
To those of you eagerly anticipating the launch of Mac OS X Lion and next-generation MacBook Airs, it may soon be time to reach for your wallets. Two separate reports today are claiming that Apple retails stores have scheduled “overnights” for next Wednesday, July 13, in order to prepare for their new product launches.
Following the release of its fourth developer preview on June 6, Apple has finally seeded the Gold Master release of OS X Lion to developers, indicating the new operating system’s public release shouldn’t be too far away.
Speculation of extremely low supplies traditionally points to a refresh when concerning an ageing Apple product, however, some believe that this could be the end of Apple’s entry-level white MacBook.
Back in February, Apple added Intel’s Thunderbolt I/O technology to its MacBook Pro lineup, and last month the iMac was given the same treatment. Earlier this month we reported on a story that claimed Apple had ordered 400,000 next-generation MacBook Airs. The latest news is that Best Buy is no longer shipping current models, lending more weight to rumours of an upcoming refresh.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that after nearly a year with no update, Apple may have forgotten about its Mac Pro – the high-end desktop aimed at professionals. However, there’s a new one on its way this year, and it will blow your socks off!
