21.5-inch iMac shipping times increase to 2-3 weeks

Customers ordering one of Apple’s latest 21-inch iMacs may have to wait considerably longer to receive their new machines than previously expected. The Cupertino company has increased shipping estimates for the smaller iMac from 7-10 business days, to 2-3 weeks on its UK, US and other online stores.

Apple to discontinue non-Retina MacBook Pro this year?

Apple is planning to discontinue its non-Retina MacBook Pro later this year, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In an effort to make the price difference between the two models a little more acceptable to consumers, the Cupertino company is also expected to reduce the price of its new Retina MacBook Pro.

Apple Thunderbolt Display in short supply, new slimmer model coming soon?

Apple could be gearing up to launch a new model of its Thunderbolt Display as stock of its existing model starts to diminish. A number of retailers, including Amazon.com, no longer have Thunderbolt Displays available, which is traditionally a sign of an upcoming product refresh. Some are speculating that Apple will overhaul the display to introduce the same design sported by its latest iMacs.

Apple slashes price of 2m Thunderbolt cable and adds 0.5 version, coming to UK soon

Apple has cut the price of its two-meter Thunderbolt cable that was introduced alongside its first Thunderbolt-equipped Macs back in June 2011. The Cupertino company has also launched a shorter, cheaper version which hit the U.S. Apple Store this week, and it’s coming to the U.K. “soon.”

Japanese company receives first certification to produce optical Thunderbolt cable

Japanese cable manufacturer Sumitomo Electric has announced that it has received the world’s first certification from Intel to produce optical Thunderbolt cable, paving the way for long-distance data transmission via the Apple-backed technology.
