Customers ordering one of Apple’s latest 21-inch iMacs may have to wait considerably longer to receive their new machines than previously expected. The Cupertino company has increased shipping estimates for the smaller iMac from 7-10 business days, to 2-3 weeks on its UK, US and other online stores.

Kariem McFarlin, the man charged with breaking into the family home of the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and taking computers and personal items worth more than $60,000 (£38,000), has been sentenced to spend seven years in a California state prison.

Apple has announced that the Wi-Fi + cellular models of both the iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad will launch in China this Friday, the 18th of January. Customers in the country will be able to purchase the models through Apple retail stores, the Apple Online Store, and select authorised resellers.

Apple has cut the price of its two-meter Thunderbolt cable that was introduced alongside its first Thunderbolt-equipped Macs back in June 2011. The Cupertino company has also launched a shorter, cheaper version which hit the U.S. Apple Store this week, and it’s coming to the U.K. “soon.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook is in China this week, and although the purpose of his visit has not been revealed by the Cupertino company, details are beginning to emerge. According to a report from Reuters, Cook met with China Mobile’s Chairman Xi Guohua earlier today, to discuss “matters of cooperation” between the companies.

Apple has today released a firmware update for all mid-2012 MacBook Air models. The update addresses a number of issues that users may be experiencing with their machines, including one related to how colour is displayed on external HDMI monitors.

At the 2013 International Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas today, the company behind the Kickstarter-funded Pebble smartwatch announced that the device has now entered mass production, and will start shipping on the 23rd of January.

A giant, interactive memorial designed to look like an iPhone has been erected in the Russian city of St. Petersburg as a tribute to Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs. The monument features a large, bright display that shows slideshows and videos highlighting various moments throughout Jobs’s life, including some of his famous speeches.

The 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s largest technology trade show, is taking place in Las Vegas this week. As usual, Apple isn’t attending. It hasn’t since 1992 when then-CEO John Sculley introduced the Newton! However, a whole host companies are debuting accessories for the iPhone, iPad and Mac at the event – here’s a few that have caught our attention.
