Apple catches up with demand for the 4th-gen iPad

Good news for anybody thinking of buying a fourth-generation iPad – Apple appears to have caught up with the demand for the new device already. Yesterday, the Cupertino company’s US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Singapore online stores all started showing the device as being “In Stock”, and today the same has happened here in the UK.

Belkin announces first accessories for Apple’s Lightning connector

Apple’s new Lightning connector, which was unveiled with the iPhone 5 back in September, now has its first official accessories. Belkin today announced a car charger and a dock, which it says are the first of several new Lightning compatible products that the company will be launching this year.

Apple sells three million iPads in three days

In a press release issued by the company, Apple today announced that it has sold three million iPads since the launch of the iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad last Friday. Unfortunately, Apple has not revealed how that figure breaks down between the different models, or whether or not it also includes sales of the iPad 2.

Apple starts airing iPad mini TV advert – ‘Piano’

Following yesterday’s launch of the iPad mini in 34 countries, Apple has started airing a television advert for it. Titled ‘Piano’, the advert opens with one hand playing the tune “Heart and Soul” in GarageBand on a full-sized 9.7-inch iPad. This is then joined by a second hand playing along on the 7.9-inch iPad mini.

Apple posts revised Samsung website statement, clever use of responsive design?

Having been told that the original version wasn’t compliant, Apple has now posted a revised statement on its website regarding a design rights dispute with Samsung. The new statement is much shorter, and doesn’t make any reference to comments made by the judge, or other cases that had ruled in Apple’s favour.

New York’s Fifth Avenue Apple store sells out of iPad mini stock within two hours

Apple’s flagship retail store on Fifth Avenue in New York City sold all of its iPad mini stock this morning within two hours. Despite relatively short queues elsewhere, and the effects that Hurricane Sandy has had on the city, more than 800 people were waiting in line for the device at the Manhattan store when it opened its doors at 10:00am

Apple releases iOS 6.0.1 update

iOS 6.0.1 update

Apple has today released iOS 6.0.1 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The update, which includes a number of improvements and bug fixes, can either be downloaded over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update, or by connecting to a Mac or PC running the latest version of iTunes and checking for updates.

Apple ordered to alter Samsung website notice

UK judges have told Apple to alter a notice on its website regarding a lawsuit with Samsung. Apple was ordered to post the notice to acknowledge a UK courtroom’s ruling that Samsung hadn’t infringed upon the iPad with its Galaxy tablets, but according to BBC News Apple has now been told the notice isn’t compliant.

Apple delays iTunes 11 launch until November

Unveiled at September’s iPhone 5 media event, iTunes 11 was originally given a launch date of October. But with only one more day remaining in the month, Apple has today announced that its release has now been pushed back until November.
