After several weeks of beta testing with registered developers, Apple has now released its OS X 10.8.1 update for Mountain Lion users, with “general operating system fixes that improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac.” Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a fix for the battery issue plaguing MacBooks.

What is thought to be a rare iPhone 4 prototype running Apple’s software testing framework – Switchboard, briefly appeared on eBay earlier today. First spotted by 9to5Mac, the item attracted a single bid of $4,500, before being pulled.

With the much publicised Apple vs. Samsung patent trial drawing to a close, Bloomberg reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Kwon Oh Hyun will today have a phone discussion to see if the two companies can reach a settlement before the jury starts its deliberations.

Apple pushed its latest iOS 6 beta – number four – to registered developers earlier this week, and aside from removing the built-in YouTube app, the update promised to fix bugs and issues present in previous releases. It also reduced a pretty frustrating audio one, too, according to reports.
