Apple today rolled out a significant update for its Podcasts app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update, which takes the app to version 1.2, introduces several improvements and new features including: station syncing between devices via iCloud, custom station & playlist creation, and a revamped Now Playing view.

The United Kingdom’s 36th Apple Store opened its doors within the Trinity shopping center in Leeds today. Staff greeted the first 1,000 customers with free Apple t-shirts, a tradition that is carried out with the launch of every new Apple Store.

Bowers & Wilkins has this week introduced a couple of new speaker docks to its existing product lineup. The Zepplin Air and the Z2 both feature Lighting connectors, making them compatible with Apple’s most recent iPhone, iPod touch and iPod nano models, plus AirPlay technology for wireless audio streaming.

Apple has just released iOS 6.1.3 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update brings with it a number of fairly minor improvements and bug fixes, including a patch for a security vulnerability which allows an iPhone’s passcode lock to be bypassed through a series of button taps and presses.

Apple has launched a new advertising campaign for the iPhone on its US website, highlighting why people love the smartphone so much. In addition to a large promo graphic on the apple.com homepage, the company has added a new “Why iPhone?” page which lists a number of reasons why the device is unlike other smartphones.

Apple’s former senior vice president of retail John Browett, who was ousted after just six months in the job, has been speaking about his time with the company. In an interview at the Retail Week Live conference, he revealed that he loved working at Apple, but “didn’t fit within the way they run the business”.

Dropbox has today announced its acquisition of Orchestra, a software developer famous for its new Mailbox app for iPhone. Mailbox will remain a standalone app, the company says, but it will be used to extend Dropbox’s core file-sharing service.

Following the release of numerous beta builds, Apple has finally made OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion available to the public. The update introduces a number of fixes and improvements including: the ability to redeem iTunes gift cards in the Mac App Store using your Mac’s built-in camera, Windows 8 Boot Camp support, and Boot Camp support for Macs with 3TB hard drives.
