Apple last night announced financial results for its fiscal 2012 second-quarter ended March 31, 2012. The Cupertino company reported record earnings and sales from the quarter, with $39.2 billion in revenue and a net profit of $11.6 billion, or $12.30 per diluted share.

Apple has today confirmed plans to create 500 new jobs at its European headquarters in Cork, Ireland. The company is expected to build a new office block at the site, which was opened in 1980, and currently employs 2800 people.

In a press release issued earlier today, Apple has confirmed that the new iPad will go on sale in South Korea and 11 additional countries this Friday the 20th of April. The device will launch in a further 9 countries on the 27th.
