Next Tuesday, tech journalists from around the world will gather at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California to watch Tim Cook and team unveil the next generation iPhone. The rest of us, will no doubt have to make do with following the proceedings on live blogs. It’s official! Apple will hold their iPhone media event next Tuesday – the 4th of October, at their Cupertino campus. The confirmation comes in the form of the invite pictured above which was sent out earlier this afternoon.

While Thunderbolt compatible devices are still scarce, it appears more companies are looking to add the technology to their products – Acer, Asustek, Belkin, BlackMagic Design and LaCie to name a few. Now it’s been revealed that even faster fibre optic based cables, set to arrive next year, will work with existing Thunderbolt equipped Macs.

As we approach the launch of iCloud this autumn – alongside the release of iOS 5 – Apple continues to prepare its software for the new service. Although we’re yet to see the eighth beta – or even the Gold Master release – of iOS 5, the Cupertino company has seeded another OS X Lion 10.7.2 beta to its developers.

This photo shows Apple’s stunning new flagship retail store in Hong Kong’s IFC Center. The store is set to open this Saturday, 24th September, but the Cupertino company has taken the curtains off early.

Apple fans in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the United Arab Emirates can now buy the latest Apple gadgets via their own official online stores. Launched yesterday, Apple are promoting the new stores with confetti strewn welcome messages on each countries homepage.

Just four days ago Apple opened its 32nd Retail Store in East London, and at 9.00am this morning the doors of store number 33 officially opened in the Braehead Shopping Centre Glasgow. The latest store is Apple’s second in Glasgow, and the third in Scotland – the other is in Aberdeen.

If you’ve been eyeing one of Apple’s new Thunderbolt Displays simply for all that connectivity, don’t go and spend £899 ($999) in the Apple store just yet. This new ThunderBold Express Dock from Belkin will give you all the same connectivity, for a fraction of the cost.

Europe’s largest urban shopping centre was opened this morning. Located next to the Olympic Park in East London; Westfield Stratford City is home to Apple’s 32nd UK Retail Store – their 5th in London. As is now tradition at Apple Store openings, the first 1000 customers were welcomed with free t-shirts, though it appears some shoppers were expecting to receive something a little more valuable.
