Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO

In a public letter addressed to the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community, Steve Jobs has tonight, resigned as the CEO of Apple. In the letter he requested that he be allowed to serve as Chairman of the Board, and that Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook be appointed as CEO in his place. Both requests have been approved by the board.

Apple releases firmware update for iMacs with graphics issues

Just over a week ago, Apple released an update to OS X Lion which appeared to fix a number of bugs, including one which caused some iMacs to freeze when playing videos in Safari. Now there’s a firmware update available for some iMac models that have graphics issues.

iTunes 10.4.1 update now available

Late yesterday, Apple released an update to iTunes which takes it to version 10.4.1. The update, which is available via Software Update, appears to address a number of bugs, including delays opening iTunes after a sleep, and unresponsiveness whilst buying HD movies.

British Airways starts equipping cabin crew with iPads

In a move to enhance the level of service offered to its customers, British Airways are running a trial which involves equipping their cabin crew with iPads. Announced yesterday, the company believes Apple’s tablet can help them to give their passengers a “truly bespoke, personalised service”.

The image above is the jacket design for the long-awaited Steve Jobs biography, set for release on the 21st of November this year. Revealed earlier today, the design was sent to Fortune’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt by the author of the book – Walter Isaacson.
