There’s no doubt Apple’s App Store is a huge success. Since the company announced their system of delivering apps and games to the iPhone with the unveiling of the iPhone 3G in 2008, it has continued to grow at an incredible rate, and is now home to 425,000 apps.

Following the release of its fourth developer preview on June 6, Apple has finally seeded the Gold Master release of OS X Lion to developers, indicating the new operating system’s public release shouldn’t be too far away.

When the original iPad was released back on the 3rd of April 2010, there was around 3000 native apps available for it. Exactly 453 days later, that figure has grown to over 100,000 in the US App Store, and the UK App Store isn’t too far behind at 98,874.

Back in February, Apple added Intel’s Thunderbolt I/O technology to its MacBook Pro lineup, and last month the iMac was given the same treatment. But despite the introduction of this new technology, we are only just starting to see compatible devices released. Now we can buy a cable for them – Apple added one to their online store today.

Apple opened its 30th UK retail store yesterday. Located in the upper level of the Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading, its doors officially opened at 9:30am with the first 1500 customers receiving free Apple T-shirts.

Late last week, Apple made the session videos from WWDC 2011 available to registered developers. It currently costs £65 ($99) per year to join the iOS or Mac developer programs – if you don’t fancy paying that, but are curious to see the latest innovations in iOS and OS X you can also access the videos by joining the free Safari developer program.

Final Cut Pro X wasn’t the only new product Apple released today, they also updated their hardware in the form of a new 3TB Time Capsule – which should be good news if you considered the previously biggest model (2TB) too small for your requirements.

Earlier today Apple issued a press release announcing the immediate availability of Final Cut Pro X – the latest version of its pro video editing software for the Mac. Completely rebuilt from the ground up, and significantly cheaper than the previous version, it’s an update many users have eagerly awaited.

Although the latest iMac was released on the 3rd of May, many early purchasers only received theirs last week – and that’s because they opted for models with an SSD (solid-state drive), which Apple were taking 4-6 weeks to ship. The good news for anyone who hasn’t ordered one yet is that the shipping times have been significantly reduced.
