OS X 10.8.3 beta includes support for AMD Radeon 7000 GPUs, hints at new Mac Pros

The beta version of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3, which was released to developers earlier this week, includes drivers for AMD’s Radeon HD 7000 series of graphics processors – prompting speculation that Apple plans to use the cards in the next version of its Mac Pro desktop, expected in 2013.

Apple fires the manager responsible for Maps

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has fired the manager of the team responsible for its much-maligned Maps App. Richard Williamson was apparently pushed out of his job by senior vice president of software and services Eddy Cue, who was recently tasked with taking charge of the Maps division.

Barclays Bank has become one of Apple’s biggest customers after acquiring 8,500 iPads. The devices will be issued to staff in Barclays branches throughout the U.K. in an effort to improve customer service. The company says it tried other tablets, but it found the iPad to be the best.

What are believed to be some of the first ever Apple Computer photographs have surfaced online some thirty-six years after they were taken. Spotted by Technologizer’s Harry McCracken, the Polaroid snapshots were posted on Facebook by Paul Terrell, who opened one of the world’s first computer stores – the Byte Shop in Mountain View, California.
