At its special event in San Jose today, Apple announced an all-new iMac with a stunning redesign that’s a whopping 80% thinner than its predecessor. It boasts an edge-to-edge glass display that’s 45% thinner than the previous iMac display, with 75% less reflection.

Along with announcing relatively minor updates to the Mac mini, at today’s San Jose media event, Apple unveiled the much-rumoured 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. The new machine boasts Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge processors, USB 3.0 ports, and Intel HD graphics – which drive the 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution display.

In a surprising break from recent tradition, Apple will be providing a live stream of today’s much-anticipated iPad mini media event. As noted by MacRumors, a new “Apple Events” app has been quietly added to the Apple TV’s home screen.

Apple has started preparing the California Theatre in San Jose ahead of tomorrow’s much-anticipated iPad mini media event. Photographs taken by Techie Buzz show brightly coloured posters adorning the outer walls and interior of the venue, while the sign above the theater’s entrance reads “Apple Special Event”.

Earlier this week, 9to5Mac published a list of 24 SKUs for what are claimed to be the new iPad models that Apple are expected to announce at next Tuesday’s media event. At the time the site speculated that the list included different configurations of the iPad mini, and possibly an updated version of the full-sized iPad.

In addition to the iPad mini, Apple is expected to unveil a number of new Macs at its press event in San Jose next week, including a refreshed Mac mini, and a redesigned iMac. The Cupertino company is also expected to unveil its much-anticipated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, and according to one report, pricing will start at $1,699 (approx. £1,061).

A report published earlier today by 9to5Mac claims that the pricing of Apple’s upcoming refreshed iMac and Mac mini lines won’t be increased by much this time around (if at all). If correct, that would pretty much rule out the possibility of a much-anticipated retina display for the new iMac.
