In an open letter published on the company’s website, Apple CEO Tim Cook has today apologised to customers experiencing issues with the iOS 6 Maps app. Cook says that Apple is “extremely sorry for the frustration” caused by the app, and suggests a number of third-party solutions for users to try while Maps is improved.
Shortly after Apple announced the iPhone 5 on September 12, Geekbench benchmarks for the device started making their way around the web. Apple has just released an update for the second and third generation Apple TV which introduces a number of new features and enhancements to the set-top-box. Apple TV Software Update 5.1, adds support for Shared Photo Streams, multiple iTunes account switching, and the ability to rearrange home screen icons via the Apple remote.
Apple has today issued a press release announcing that over five million iPhone 5 units were sold during the first weekend of its availability. By way of comparison, over four million iPhone 4S units were sold over the same period of time last year.
Following yesterday’s launch of the iPhone 5, Apple has released four TV adverts promoting the new device. Titled “Thumbs”, “Cheese”, “Physics”, and “Ears”, the ads showcase how the 4-inch display is the ideal size for your thumb, the fact that the device is taller yet lighter than previous models, the camera’s panoramic mode, and the new EarPod earphones bundled with the device.
Following the release of iOS 6 last Wednesday, Apple has received widespread criticism of its new Maps app, which many users have pointed out contains major glitches and inaccuracies. The Cupertino company has now responded to those complaints in a statement, saying the app will get better.
