Following less than three days of deliberations, the jury in the Apple vs. Samsung patent trial has unanimously ruled that the Korean company must pay Apple $1.05 billion (£665m) in damages for infringing its design and utility patents.

Apple releases OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 update

After several weeks of beta testing with registered developers, Apple has now released its OS X 10.8.1 update for Mountain Lion users, with “general operating system fixes that improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac.” Unfortunately, there’s no mention of a fix for the battery issue plaguing MacBooks.

Apple’s next iPhone to support UK’s first 4G Network?

UK communications regulator Ofcom has today given Everything Everywhere — the parent company of mobile network providers Orange and T-Mobile, the green light to roll-out the country’s first 4G network. And according to a report by Pocket-lint, Apple’s next iPhone could be one of the first devices to support the new service.

Apple CEO Tim Cook to hold last-minute settlement talks with Samsung counterpart

With the much publicised Apple vs. Samsung patent trial drawing to a close, Bloomberg reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Kwon Oh Hyun will today have a phone discussion to see if the two companies can reach a settlement before the jury starts its deliberations.
