Since its launch last month, Apple’s standalone Podcasts app for the iPhone and iPad has been dogged by issues which have resulted in it being awarded one of the lowest ratings of all the company’s apps. Users have complained of sluggish performance, crashing, and syncing failures.
Introduced with OS X Mountain Lion, AirPlay Mirroring is a fantastic new feature that allows you to send whatever is on your Mac’s screen to a HDTV via an Apple TV. Just as Apple CEO Tim Cook promised during yesterday’s earnings announcement, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is now available to download from the Mac App Store. Priced at just £13.99 ($19.99), Mountain Lion is the cheapest OS X upgrade to date, and includes over 200 new features.
Apple has just announced its earnings for the third fiscal quarter of 2012. The Cupertino company reported revenue of $35.0 billion and a net profit of $8.8 billion, or $9.32 per diluted share. By comparison, for the same quarter last year it reported revenue of $28.6 billion and net profit of $7.3 billion, or $7.79 per diluted share.
Apple’s latest iPhone 4S TV advert features Oscar-winning movie director Martin Scorsese, who is shown using Siri whilst riding in the back of a taxi. In the ad, which is titled “Busy Day”, Scorsese uses the personal assistant to reschedule appointments, check the location of a friend, and to see how the traffic is looking downtown.
A Reuters report published earlier today appears to add weight to previous rumours that the next iPhone will sport a smaller, 19-pin connector. According to the report, which cites sources familiar with Apple’s plans, adopting the smaller port will allow the headphone jack to be relocated to the bottom of the device.
