Today the Chronic Dev-Team have released their long-awaited Absinthe 2.0 untethered jailbreak for iOS devices running Apple’s latest iOS 5.1.1 firmware. The exploit supports almost every device that’s compatible with the 5.1.1 release, except for the third-generation Apple TV.

Facebook releases ‘Facebook Camera’ app for the iPhone

Following Facebook’s purchase of the popular photo-sharing app Instagram for $1bn just a few weeks ago, the social network giant has announced the launch of a new camera app for iOS. Facebook Camera allows you to take photos, add filters, share multiple images at a time, and view a feed featuring your friends’ snaps.

John Malkovich stars in two new iPhone 4S TV adverts

Apple has released two new TV adverts for the iPhone 4S featuring the actor John Malkovich. As with previous ads in the series, both focus on the smartphone’s voice-controlled assistant, Siri. In the first commercial, which is titled “Life”, Siri answers a philosophical question. And in the second, titled “Joke”, Siri shows her funny side while helping Malkovich plan a night out.

John Hodgman & Justin Long, who starred in the “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” adverts, and Richard Dreyfuss, the voice behind “The Crazy Ones” advert took to the stage to introduce a special video featuring a number of famous faces.

The Leap is a 3D motion-control device which is claimed to be 200 times more accurate than anything else on the market – including Microsoft’s Kinect, and when it launches later this year, it will retail for an affordable $69.99 (£44).

It’s a handy little option introduced with iOS 5, that allows apps, books, or music purchased on one device to be automatically downloaded to others signed into the same account. It would appear that Apple are also bringing the feature to the Mac App Store in the next version of OS X.

Apple annouces iTunes Festival 2012 – 30 nights of free music

Apple has announced that this year’s iTunes Festival will take place between the 1st and the 30th of September, at the Roundhouse in North London. Over 60 artists will perform over 30 consecutive nights at the event, which has been held each year since 2007, and all tickets are free – you just need to apply online to win them.
