According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple plans to replace Google Maps with a completely in-house application in iOS 6. The new app is said to feature a “powerful new 3D mode” developed by C3 Technologies – a Swedish company that Apple acquired last year.

iCloud beta website reveals plans for web versions of Notes & Reminders applications

It would appear that Apple are planning to add web versions of Notes and Reminders to iCloud.com. Earlier today a beta version of the site was discovered at beta.icloud.com, featuring icons for the two applications alongside the existing ones for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find My iPhone, and iWork.

Rovio announces Amazing Alex, a new puzzle game coming to iOS in two months

Earlier this week, it announced that its physics-based puzzler had amassed over 1 billion downloads on all platforms, but it isn’t about to rest of its laurels. While Siri has its critics, there’s no denying it’s a pretty incredible feature for Apple’s iPhone. I often use it to set reminders and calendar events, make telephone calls or compose text messages, play music and set alarms. But admittedly, Siri’s feature-set is currently limited.

Apple releases OS X 10.7.4 with fix for FileVault security bug

Apple has just released OS X Lion 10.7.4 via Software Update. The update, which is recommended for all users, fixes a bug in OS X 10.7.3 that caused login passwords to be stored in plain text log files, that could be accessed by other system users.

Apple have just released iOS version 5.1.1 for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The update, which is available via the desktop version of iTunes and the Software Update section of compatible devices, fixes a number of bugs, including one that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks.

Apple extends MobileMe free 20GB of iCloud storage offer until the 30th of September

Back in August 2011, Apple revealed that customers switching to iCloud from MobileMe before its 30th of June shutdown date, would receive a free storage upgrade of 20GB. Although MobileMe services are still set to end on the same date, subscribers now have until the 30th of September to take advantage of the complimentary 20GB of iCloud storage.
