Apple to release new iPad in China on July 20th
Apple has just announced that the new iPad will launch in China on Friday the 20th of July. The third-generation tablet will be available from the Apple Online Store, authorised resellers, and by reservation from the company’s retail stores.
Although China is Apple’s second-biggest market after the United States, it has had to wait considerably longer than many other countries for the latest iPad. The device made its debut in the US and nine other markets back in March.
There is some speculation that the launch of the iPad in China may have been delayed by a longstanding trademark dispute between Apple and the Chinese tech firm Proview over rights to the “iPad” name. That dispute was settled last week, after Apple agreed to pay Proview $60 (£38m).
As in other countries, the iPad 2 will have its price reduced in China.
